A two-tone entry in a character home — deep, dark panelling below, soft light walls above, and an arched doorway that leaves nowhere to hide an untidy line.
The finish
Quiet work. Considered detail.
Character interiors reward patience. Panelling, mouldings and arched openings mean far more edges and profiles than a plain modern wall, and the finish is judged wherever two colours meet.
The wainscot panelling was finished in a deep, saturated tone with crisp cut lines against the pale upper walls, and the arch was traced cleanly through the curve — small details that decide whether a two-tone scheme feels considered or clumsy.
The result is an entry with real presence: dark and grounded at eye level, light and calm above, and every profile of the original joinery sharpened rather than swallowed by the paint.

Panelling and mouldings mean many more edges than a flat wall, each prepared and finished properly.
